The “Health Minister’s Cancer Patient Fund (HMCPF) within the Rashtriya Arogya Nidhi (RAN)” has also been set up in 2009. In order to utilize the Health Minister’s Cancer Patient Fund, the Revolving Fund as under RAN, has been established in 27 Regional Cancer Centres (RCCs). Such step would ensure and speed up financial assistance to needy patients and help fulfill the objective of HMCPF under RAN.
The objectives of "Dr. Ambedkar Medical Aid Scheme" is to extend medical aid grants to the patients belongs to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes suffering from serious ailments requiring surgery of Kidney, Heart, Liver, Cancer and Brain or any other life threatening diseases including organ transplant and spinal surgery, whose annual family income is not more than Rs. 3,00,000.
In some unforeseen circumstances, a bad accident happens to a person by the Rajasthan government. So in this situation, assistance is given through the Chief Minister's Relief Fund. For which special assistance scheme, accident assistance scheme 2022 has been started by the state government. The Government today announced two major initiatives in health sector , as part of Ayushman Bharat programme. The Union Minister for Finance and Corporate Affairs, Shri Arun Jaitely while presenting the General Budget 2018-19 in Parliament here today said that this was aimed at making path breaking interventions to address health holistically, in primary, secondary and tertiary care systems, covering both prevention and health promotion.
This relief fund was established by the then Prime Minister, Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru in January, 1948, with contributions from public to assist displaced persons from Pakistan. The resources of the PMNRF are now utilized primarily to render immediate relief to families of those killed in natural calamities like floods, cyclones and earthquakes, etc. and to the victims of the major accidents and riots. Assistance from PMNRF is also given to meet the expenses partially for medical treatment like heart surgeries, kidney transplantation, cancer treatment, etc. The fund is recognized as a Trust under the Income Tax Act and the same is managed by Prime Minister or multiple delegates for national causes.
Travel for the patient is totally free. The bystander has to pay only 25% of the actual II class fare. This concession is applicable only for travel from nearest hometown station to treating cancer hospital/cancer institute and back.
Patient has to pay 50% of the basic fare of the normal economy class. This concession is applicable only for those persons who are resident of India and suffering from cancer and are travelling for the purpose of medical check-up/treatment. Required Documents: An application from the passenger stating that he/she is proceeding for treatment supported by a certificate issued by cancer hospital or an institute.
Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana (RSBY, literally "National Health Insurance Programme" is a government-run health insurance scheme for the poor Indian people.
